Met Eireann issues two weather warnings in ten counties

DONEGAL, Ireland - With Storm Hector approaching, the Met Eireann has issued two separate wind warnings across ten Irish counties.

The weather warning said that its first warning, a Status Orange wind warning has been issued for Donegal, Galway, Mayo and Sligo.

Meanwhile, it has issued a Status Yellow wind warning for Cavan, Monaghan, Leitrim, Roscommon, Clare and Kerry.

According to Met Eireann, the warnings are set to remain in place until Thursday.

The forecaster said in an update, “The warning will last for a time on Thursday. South to southwest winds veering westerly, associated with Storm Hector, will reach mean speeds of 65 to 80 km/hr with gusts of 110 to 125 km/hr. Winds will be strongest in coastal areas.”

It added, that the Status Yellow warning was also associated with Storm Hector and in these counties, “winds will reach mean speeds of 55 to 65 km/hr with gusts of 90 to 110 km/hr.”
