Gardai probe case of armed robbery in south Dublin

DUBLIN, Ireland - In a shocking armed robbery, two thugs are said to have brandished handguns to threaten a cash-in-transit employee in Killiney before escaping with cash.

The incident in south Dublin took place in broad daylight on Wednesday morning and involved two robbers stopping the cash-in-transit van near the Killiney Shopping Centre.

The thugs reportedly produced a handgun, threatened the employee and made away with some cash.

Gardai in Dublin have said that they have launched an investigation int the case.

Officers said that the two men "threatened a worker who was handling the cash after producing a handgun."

They said investigations were now underway but confirmed that no injuries have been reported in the case.

They further noted that no shots were fired by the armed thieves.

Some reports noted that the robbers escaped with a five figure sum.

A gardaspokeswoman said, Gardai were called to the robbery of a CIT van in a shopping centre in Killiney, Co Dublin yesterday morning, Wednesday September 19, 2018 at 10.40am. Two males produced a handgun to a CIT employee and made way with some cash. Investigations are on going.
