CORK, Ireland - Gardai have announced an investigation into the discovery of a man's body under mysterious circumstances in West Cork.
According to detectives, the body of a man, who is believed to be in his late 50s, was discovered near his West Cork residence.
Gardai said they launched an investigation immediately after the man's body was found at around 10.30 am on Saturday.
Emergency services that rushed to the spot after being alerted, moved the man's body from Derreens, Dunmanway to the Cork University Hospital.
A post mortem is scheduled to be conducted on Sunday.
Gardai said they had sealed the area where the man's body was found, for a forensic examination.
A Gardai spokeswoman said, Gardai in Dunmanway are investigating all the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a body of a man outside a house at Direens, Dunmanway, Cork. The results of the post mortem will determine the course of the investigation.
Gardai in Dunmanway are appealing for witnesses who might have any information, to contact them.
