CO. KERRY, Ireland - Gardaí have made an arrest in connection with the assault of Stephen O'Connor in Killorglin on Sunday.

The 32-year-old from the Glencar area was admitted to hospital with serious injuries after the assault. He was placed on life support but subsequently died.

A man in his 20s was arrested in Co. Kerry on Thursday morning and is currently detained under the provisions of Section 4 of The Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Killarney Garda Station.

The post-mortem examination of Stephen O'Connor has been completed but details are not being released for operational reasons, Gardai said.

The family of O'Connor have also requested privacy.

Meantime the funeral of Stephen will be held at St. Stephen's Church, Glencar with Requiem Mass to be said at 11:am. Burial will take place afterwards in Cummer, Cemetery, Glencar.
