DUBLIN, Ireland - A 10-year old Dublin schoolgirl has gone missing.

Her parents alerted gardai after she failed to return home from school.

Gardai have issued an appeal for assistance in locating the missing ten-year-old.

The girl, Maria Thorgaard Sonne, has not been seen since  she left home for school at around 9:00am on Monday morning in Dublin 8.

Maria is described as approximately 4ft 11 in height, of slim build with long dark hair and green eyes.

When last seen she was wearing a grey school jumper with a red stripe around the neck, grey school skirt, grey socks and pink runners, a black coat and carrying backpack with a floral pattern.
