Man in 70s dead after two-vehicle collision in Tramore

CO. WATERFORD, Ireland - A collision on the N25 Waterford at a crossing in Tramore has claimed the life of a man in his 70s.

The two-vehicle collision took place around 3:30pm on Tuesday afternoon.

The elderly man was driving one of the cars. He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to the mortuary in Waterford University Hospital where a post-mortem is expected to take place.

The other driver in the second car, a man in his 20s, received serious but non-life threatening injuries and was airlifted to Cork University Hospital.

A passenger in his car was uninjured.

The road was closed for a period while a technical and forensic examination took place. Diversions were in place and traffic from Dungarvan/Waterford, using the N25 were required to divert via Portlaw / Kilmacthomas.

Gardai are appealing to witnesses to contact Tramore Garda Station on 051-391620, the Garda Confidential Line 1800-666-111 or any Garda station.
