Unusual fatal collision in Clonmel

CO TIPPERARY, Ireland - A man in his early 50s has been killed in a freak incident in Clonmel, Co. Tipperary.

The tragedy occurred after a woman who was driving a car down Gladstone Street in Clonmel collided with a pole which then hit the man, who was a pedestrian.

The man was rushed to South Tipperary Hospital with serious injuries. He died in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The Garda Collision Investigators carried out a forensic examination of the secne.

They are treating the incident as a fatal road traffic collision, and are investigating it as such.

The incident took place around 3 o'clock on Friday afternoon.

Gardai are appealing to any persons who may have witnessed the collision/s or who can assist them to contact Clonmel Garda Station on 052 - 6177640, The Garda Confidential Line 18000 666 111 or any Garda Station.
