CO LIMERICK, Ireland - A 16-year old boy has been killed in the early hours of Sunday morning in the townland of Garraunboy, Adare, in County Limerick.

The boy was struck by a car on the N21 at the Newcastle West side of Adare village at approximately 3:45am Sunday. Garda at Newcastle West are investigating the incident.

The youth's body was taken to Limerick University Hospital where a post mortem will take place.

The driver of the car, a man in his late 40s, was unhurt.

Garda at Newcastle West are appealing for any witnesses to this road traffic collision, particularly any motorists who were travelling in the area at the time and may have dash cam footage, to make contact.
