CO LOUTH, Ireland - Officers attached to the Garda Armed Support unit intercepted an attempted ATM theft on the Dunleer Main Street at approximately 4.30am on Wednesday morning.
The garda officers were patrolling the area at the time and managed to thwart the attempted theft. A pursuit then began onto the N1. The culprits however made their way over the border. The PSNI have taken up the baton and are searching for thee suspects. in their searches.
Garda in Ardee investigating the attempted ATM theft of an ATM have meantime issued an appeal to the public for information.
They are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed any irregular activity in the Ardee, Dunleer, Stabannon areas of Co. Louth between 4:00-5:00amOn Wednesday morning. They are particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed a tractor pulling a low-loader and excavator in those areas at this time.
Garda would also like to speak to anyone who can assist in locating a white pick-up 4x4 that is believed to have been used in the incident. The vehicle drove towards the M1 motorway and is believed to have travelled towards Northern Ireland. This vehicle may have damage to the rear.
A twin axel flatbed trailer was recovered at the scene and Garda are attempting to locate its owner. Garda are appealing for any individual who may have had a trailer stolen but may not have reported it, to contact the Incident room in Ardee.
