CO KILDARE, Ireland - A man in his 30s has been arrested in relation to the November 2018 death of Clive Staunton in Leixlip, Co. Kildare.

Staunton, 50, (pictured), was shot dead on 15 November 2018.

The man arrested in connection with the alleged murder is currently detained at Leixlip Garda Station.

He is the third person to be arrested.

A man and a woman, both aged in their 30s, were arrested in December last year and were both released without charge, with files prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Staunton, a street trader, was shot twice in the head just after he arrived home in Leixlip in his van, a white Mercedes sprinter. He had been working, selling flags and scarves outside the Ireland game with the North at the Aviva on 15 November 2018.

Later on Tuesday garda renewed their appeal to the public for information in relation to the fatal shooting .

Clive Staunton's body was discovered outside a house in Glen Easton at approximately 9.15pm on 15 November 15 2018.

Garda are asking anyone who saw him on that date to contact them. Garda are also asking anyone who saw his van, a white Mercedes-Benz Sprinter (registration 96-D-22788) with a distinctive red stripe on both sides, travelling between Bath Avenue, Dublin 4 and Leixlip, Co. Kildare between 8pm and 9.15pm on this date to make themselves known.

An Garda Sochna say they would also like to speak to anyone who was in the Glen Easton estate in Leixlip between 8.30pm and 9.30pm on 15 November, 2018.

Garda are also appealing for information on the movement of a silver/grey Volvo S40 (old-style square back) between Leixlip, Co. Kildare and Manor Kilbride, Co. Wicklow on the same date.
