DUBLIN, Ireland - Two men caught with €1,200,000 worth of cocaine on the weekend appeared before The Criminal Courts of Justice in Dublin on Monday morning.

The arrests were part of an intelligence-led operation targeting organised crime.

The operation involved officers from the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau and the Garda National Crime and Security Intelligence Service stopping and searching two vehicles near Ashbourne County Meath on Saturday.

The searches that were undertaken with the assistance of the Revenue Customs Service resulted in the discovery and seizure of cocaine with an estimated street value of €1,200,000.

The two men, aged 35 and 62 years were arrested and detained at Ashbourne Garda Station ahead of Monday's court appearance in Dublin.

"An Garda Sochna is committed to continuing to disrupt the activities of organised criminals supplying drugs to our communities. This seizure of a substantial quantity of cocaine today is another example of our relentless efforts to disrupt this supply, enabling us to keep people safe," Detective Chief Superintendent Angela Willis, who is head of the bureau at GNDOCB, said at the time of the mens' arrest on Saturday.
