Woman in mid-40s arrested over cannabis cultivation facility

CO CAVAN, Ireland - A woman in her mid-40s appeared before the Criminal Courts of Justice, Dublin on Saturday charged with operating a cannabis grow house.

The woman was charged late Friday after being arrested earlier in the day. Her arrest followed the discovery of a cannabis grow house in Ballyjamesduff, Co Cavan.

A large number of cannabis plants and cannabis herb with a combined estimated value of €50,000 were discovered and seized by members of the Detective Unit attached to Bailieboro at a house in Ballyjamesduff Co Cavan.

The search took place at approximately 1:30pm Friday and formed part of an intelligence-led operation. Assistance was provided by the Armed Support Unit.

During the search other items associated with drug cultivation were also seized. These included fans, heaters, lights and an irrigation system.

The woman was being detained at Bailieboro Garda Station ahead of her court appearance in Dublin on Saturday.
