CO KILDARE, Ireland - As a follow-on from the search of an apartment block in Naas, Co Kildare, on Saturday, where a large quantity of drugs and cash was discovered and seized, three further searches have been carried out at residential and commercial properties also in the Naas area.

The latest searches on Tuesday morning of two homes and a commercial garage in the Naas area were conducted by garda from the Naas District, supported by Kildare Divisional Drugs and Detective Units, the Criminal Assets Bureau and Armed Support Unit.

A 26-year old man was arrested during the course of the searches and he is currently being detained at Naas Garda Station.

Documentation and a small quantity of suspected cannabis herb was also seized.

This arrest and Tuesday's searches are part of investigations into the distribution of controlled drugs in the area, and follow on from the search of an apartment complex in Naas on Saturday, where suspected cocaine with an estimated value of €50,000, suspected cannabis herb to the value of €15,000 and approximately €50,000 in cash, were seized.

Gardai say investigations are ongoing.
