CO CORK, Ireland - A man in his 80s has died after being hit by a truck while walking in Charleville, County Cork.

The tragic incident took place at around 11:00am on Wednesday morning on Main Street, Charleville.

The man is believed to have been killed instantly.

The road was closed as the scene was being examined by Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions were put in place.

Garda are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or any road users that may have camera footage (including dash-cam) to contact Charleville Garda station on 063 21770, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
