CO CORK, Ireland - A man in his 70s has died after being hit by a van in a car park at a sportsground in Co Cork.

The tragedy occurred around 3:30pm on Saturday afternoon in the car park forming part of a sports ground in Donnybrook, Douglas, Co. Cork.

"The collision involved a van and a pedestrian. The pedestrian, a man in his 70s, was fatally injured. He was pronounced dead at the scene," a statement from Garda said.

The scene was examined by Forensic Collision Investigators.

Garda are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or who may have any information or camera footage (including dash-cam) to contact Anglesea Street Garda Station on 021 452 2000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
