DUBLIN, Ireland - As part of a €250 million capital investment and redevelopment program, fashion store Penneys already having 5,000 employees - will generate 700 new jobs in Ireland.
Over the next decade, the company plans to increase its overall retail area in Ireland by 20%.
The expansion will provide jobs to 300 people in the new store in The Square in Tallaght which is planned to open in the autumn of next year.
A €60 million investment will be made in the redevelopment and extension of its Patrick Street store in Cork city, while a €20 million investment will expand its Eyre Square store in Galway.
A new 5550,000 sq ft distribution center in Newbridge, Co Kildare, will also receive €75 million in funding and is expected to open in early 2024.
Its Carlow store will reopen next summer after transferring to a larger building.
600 of the new jobs announced Friday would include department managers, trainee managers, and full and part-time retail assistants.
The remaining 100 new posts will base in Arthur Ryan House, the company's worldwide headquarters in Dublin's city center.
