Co KERRY, Ireland - A community protest in Co Kerry over a telecommunications mast erection has reached its 38th day.
Local protesters seeking the dismantling of the 20-meter mast in Inch are blocking its access.
The new mast, which was granted planning clearance by Kerry County Council on land owned by Eir, is only 20 meters away from the Foley family home.
With the assistance of local demonstrators, the Foley family is requesting that the mast be removed and relocated to another place.
When the Foley family saw the size of the new mast when it was erected in early December of last year, they were taken aback.
Katie Foley says her family is genuinely concerned about the mast's proximity to their home.
"It's only 20 meters from us. It's the first thing we see when we look out the window."
"Throughout Christmas and into the New Year, this has been a nightmare. We've had to close the family pub because of the stress it's causing us," she said.
