Car strikes pedestrian in Irish capital

DUBLIN, Ireland - A pedestrian has been seriously injured in a clash with a car in Dublin, late on Saturday night.

The man, 31, was walking on Blessington Road in Tallaght shortly after 11:00pm on Saturday night when he was struck by a car.

He was treated by medics from Dublin Fire Brigade for serious injuries, prior to being taken to Tallaght University Hospital.

Although serious, the man's injuries are understood not to be life-threatening.

The driver of the car who was the only occupant in the vehicle was not injured.

Gardai at Tallaght are appealing for witnesses to come forward and are also appealing to any road users with video footage from the location at the time of the collision to make it available to them.
