Cannabis plants worth 200,000 euro lead to 2 arrests

DUBLIN, Ireland - Two men appeared before Mullingar District Court on Monday following the discovery of a grow house in Roscommon on Sunday.

The men, one in his 40s, and the other aged in his 50s remain detained at a Garda station in Co. Roscommon.

At approximately 11:00am Sunday morning, a search operation was conducted by the Roscommon/Longford Divisional Drugs Unit, with assistance from officers at Castlerea Garda Station, at a roperty in Ballinlough, County Roscommon.

During the course of this search, officers discovered a grow house operation within the premises.

Approximately 250 suspected cannabis plants at varying maturities were seized with an estimated street value of €200,000.

The men arrested have since been charged ahead of their appearance before Mullingar District Court on Monday.

Gardai sai investigations are ongoing.
