CO TIPPERARY, Ireland - Gardaí have launched a murder investigation following the discovery of a man's body in Carrick-on-Suir earlier this week.
The victim, whose identity has not yet been released, was found on Monday, August 4, prompting a major Garda operation in the area. A post-mortem examination was conducted by Deputy State Pathologist Dr. Yvonne McCarthy, with preliminary results leading investigators to treat the death as suspicious.
While authorities have not disclosed specific details of the post-mortem findings, they confirmed the case is now being investigated as a homicide.
Gardaí are appealing to the public for assistance, particularly anyone who may have been in the Cregg Road area between 8pm on Friday, August 1, and 3:30am on Monday, August 4. Detectives are also urging motorists with dashcam footage or residents with private CCTV to come forward, as it may hold vital clues.
"We are following a number of lines of inquiry and are asking anyone with information—no matter how small—to contact us," a Garda spokesperson said Wednesday.
Witnesses or those with relevant footage are asked to call Clonmel Garda Station at (052) 617 7640, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111, or any local Garda station.
Investigations remain ongoing, with forensic teams continuing to examine the scene. Updates are expected as the case develops.
