CO DUBLIN, Ireland - A man in his 60s remains in serious condition at a hospital in Dublin, following an alleged assault on Tuesday.

Gardai in Kilmainham are investigating the incident, which occurred at a home in Dublin 8, on Tuesday, shortly before noon.

First responders were called to the scene at midday Tuesday after receiving reports of a man being found unconscious in a flat at the Old Convent on Basin Street, Dublin 8.

The man was treated at the scene before being transported by ambulance to Beaumont Hospital, where re remains. His condition is understood to be serious.

Following enquiries, a man in his 20s was arrested in connection with this incident and is currently detained at a Garda Station in the Dublin Region.

Gardai say the scene has been forensically examined and remains preserved.
