CO MAYO, Ireland - An investigation is underway into Tuesday's single-vehicle road traffic collision, which resulted in a fatality.
Investigators have appealed to the public for assistance.
The crash occurred at Glen, Clare Island, Co Mayo on Tuesday afternoon at around 1:00pm.
The driver of the car involved was a man in his 80s. Emergency services were called to the scene after the vehicle the man was driving left the road and entered the water.
The man was retrieved however he could not be revived, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
His body was removed to Mayo University Hospital where a post mortem examination is scheduled to take place.
A Forensic Collision Investigator carried out an examination of the scene.
