CO DONEGAL, Ireland - A young girl has been killed, and another seriously injured, along with another male of unknown age, and a woman, in an horrific road traffic collision.
The fatal crash occurred on Wednesday night on the R240 at Carrowmore, Glentogher, Carndonagh, in Co. Donegal. It occurred shortly before 6:30pm on Wednesday night.
Gardai and emergency services were called to the scene of the crash which involved a car and a van. Two young girls were travelling as passengers in the car, a woman was driving, and there was another male passenger in the front seat.
One of the young girls was pronounced dead at the scene, the other, along with the woman driver, and the front seat male passenger were rushed to Altnagelvin Hospital, in Derry where they all remain in serious condition.
There were no other injuries.
The road was closed, and remained closed overnight, for a technical examination by Forensic Collision Investigators while local diversions were put in place.
Investigators are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.
Any road users who may have camera footage (including dashcam) and were travelling in the area between 6pm and 6.30pm on Wednesday are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
