Gardai launch search in Dublin, retrieve drugs and weapons

DUBLIN, Ireland - A search operation in the capital on Thursday has resulted in the seizure of various, drugs, weapons and ammunition.

The search was carried out by Gardai officers from Serious Crime West, DMR North and the Ballymun Community Response Team.

The raid took place in Ballymun, Dublin 11.

"A quantity of drugs – cocaine, diamorphine and cannabis – was seized along with a number of weapons, including a firearm, knives and baseball bats, during the search under Operation Tara," a Gardai statement published late Thursday night said.

Gardai say investigations are ongoing.

The search and seizure forms part of Operation Tara, an enhanced national anti-drugs strategy, which was launched by Garda Commissioner Drew Harris on 2nd July 2021.

The focus of Operation Tara is to disrupt, dismantle and prosecute drug trafficking networks, at all levels - international, national, and local - involved in the importation, distribution, cultivation, production, local sale and supply of controlled drugs.
